She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles R. "Jim" Mercer and Dolores Brown Mercer; and her brother George Mercer (Toby). She is survived by: her husband Jim; her daughter Jodi Dorn Grice; her foster son Luke Brito (Maria); her children, Jesse Schmidt, Scott Schmidt, Pam Schmidt McBride and Dean Schmidt; her mother-in-law Eileen Schmidt; her brother-in-law Allen Adrian; her grandchildren, Cashon Grice, Gabe Grice, Garrett Grice, Nicole Brito Portillo (Julian), Tatiana Brito, Jakob McBride, Peyton McBride and Haley McBride; her sister Cathi Mercer Henshaw (Larry); and her half-siblings, Deb Bicknell Eslinger (Mike), Don Bicknell and Michael Mercer. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Judi requested that gifts be considered to the Sioux City Cosmopolitan Club for diabetic children's camp scholarships, or to Redeemer Free Music.
