He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Nelson and Bernice P. Nelson (Lange); his brother Glenn Nelson; and his brother-in-law Darris Rust. He is survived by: his significant other Diane Brandsrud; his sons, Jared Nelson and Dustin Nelson (Stephanie); his significant other's children, Dale Brands (Lori), Gale Lein (Scott), Gene Brandsrud (Christy), Chad Brandsrud, Boyd Brandsrud (Teresa) and Ross Brandsrud (Rosie); his grandchildren, Jaxon Nelson, Madilynn, Gavin Nelson, Christopher, Jacob, Zachary Brandsrud, Aaron, Lydia Lien, Alex Lampster, Jeana, Spencer Brandsrud, Maverick, Anna, Kay and Elena Brandsrud; his sisters, Joanne Holter (Dale) of Denver, CO, Janet Rust of Estelline, SD and Jean DeBoer (Dale) of Garretson, SD; and his aunt Mary Ann Liljegren of Arlington, SD..
