He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Arthur and Mae Alvina Thompson (Elverud); his grandfather Thomas Elverud; his son Brian Wayne Thompson; his brothers, Dale Thompson, Maynard Thompson and Verle Thompson; his parents-in-law, Merwin and Lila St (Baker); and his siblings-in-law, Darwin St. John and Dorothy Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Elinore St. John; his daughters, Katherine Tarrell (David) and Sheri Beth Scheerhorn (Doug); his grandchildren, Alex Tarrell (Emily), Evan Tarrell, Matthew Thompson (Rebecca Thompson), Yancy Parrow and Tori Callendar (Paul); his great grandchildren, Cora Tarrell, Cassie Tarrell, Corey Parrow, Caidence Ellis, Jaxon Callender, Jayden Perkapile and Tora Callendar; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Thompson and Audrey Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ascension Lutheran Church (2030 3rd St, Brookings, SD 57006). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
