He was predeceased by: his parents, Fredrick Bernstein and Helena Bernstein (Becker); his wife Selma Mortinsen; his siblings, Clarence Bernstein, Evangeline Hill, Grace Harms, Arlo Odegaard and Hope Bernstein; and his nieces and nephews, Wayne Odegaard, Gwedolyn Johnson, Gwen and Micheal Mortinsen.

He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Ron Hill (Corrine), Randy Odegaard (Glenda), Larry Mortinsen (Robin), Betty Stewart (Sheldon), Joan Cleveland, Bonnie Nelson, Mary Nordseth (Dean), Karen Heim (Paul) and Barbara Mullaney (Mike).
