With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Viola Dorothy Lightfield of Brookings, South Dakota, born in Murdo, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 23, 2024 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Fuoss and Olga Fuoss (Liffengren); her husband Ernie E. Lightfield; her son Ken; and her siblings, Orville, Floyd and Barbara.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Budde (Mike) of Sioux Falls, SD and John Lightfield (Kimberly) of Milbank, SD; her grandchildren, Spencer, Kelsey, Connor, Madeline, Maxwell and Graham; her great grandchildren, Alexa, Brianna and Falon; her daughter-in-law Diane Lightfield of Appleton, WI; and her sister Mary Ann Johnson of Loveland, CO. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rude's Funeral Home (105 W 8th St S, Brookings, SD 57006). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Ascension Lutheran Church (2030 3rd St, Brookings, SD 57006).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Alzheimer's Association South Dakota Chapter 5915 South Remington Place #110, Sioux Falls, SD 57108 in Viola's name.
