With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ronald Gene Olson (Brookings, South Dakota), born in Madison, South Dakota, who passed away on November 24, 2019 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Orrin Olson and Emelyn Olson Ihlen; his stepfather Harry Ihlen; his parents-in-law, George and Rose Stroup; and his brother Robert Olson.
He is survived by: his wife Georgiana Stroup; his children, Paula Meyer (Jim), Eileen Iversen (Gary), Kenneth Olson (Kris) and Karen Hernandez (Mel); his foster daughter Shirley DeLeon; his grandchildren, Amie Meyer Olson (Stephen), Michael Johnson (Trevor Clements), Jeff Meyer (Mary), Melissa Iversen Siebersma (Steve), Justin Olson, Christopher Iversen (Melissa) and Katie Meyer Stiegelmeier (Isaac); and his sister-in-law Harriet Olson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and foster grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Brookings Backpack Project.
