He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Oppelt and Martha Oppelt (Fischer); his wife Margaret "Marge" Bird; his brother Lester Oppelt; and his half-brothers, Melvin Banick and Hugo Scharkey.
He is survived by: his nephews, Myron Scharkey (Carole) and Wayne Banick; and his niece June Nelson. He is also survived by several extended family members and friends.
Due to the current social climate and social distancing efforts with COVID-19, the funeral will be limited to family only.
