It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marlys Jean Dixon-Houtman (Brookings, South Dakota), who passed away on February 9, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Goodroad and Hilda Goodroad; her husbands, Duane Dixon of Madison, SD and Gerald Houtman; and her sons, Ronald Dixon and Dale Dixon.
She is survived by: her children, Bruce Dixon (Carleen) of Brookings, Sandy Whitaker (Steve) of Brookings, George Houtman (Ronda) of Brookings, Nanette Carr of Waterville, MN, Brenda Volkers (Gene) of Volga and Tim Houtman of Brookings; her daughters-in-law, Cindy Dixon of Aurora and Jaylene Dixon-Clark of Maryland; and her sister Darlene Johnson of Watertown. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest that memorial donations be made in Marlys's memory to the Dakota Nature Park in Brookings. Memorials may be made out to "City of Brookings" with a memo denoting a donation to the Dakota Nature Park, City of Brookings 520 3rd Street, Suite 230Brookings, SD 57006.
