He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Howey and Clarinda Howey (Kryger); his wife Barbara Johnson; his son Robert "Bobby" Howey; and his siblings, Cleo, Larry, Mary Jane and Darlene.
He is survived by: his children, Lyle Howey III (Dawn) of Hartford, SD, Vicki Tirrel (Richard) of River Falls, WI, Richard Howey (Kay) of Brookings, SD and Kristine Gambs (Julien) of Humboldt, SD. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family.
