He was predeceased by: his wife Elaine; and his sisters, Irene Fischer (Vernon) and Anita Calhoun. He is survived by: his children, Anne Drew (Terence), Sandra Gipe (Robert), Karen Spinar and Mark Spinar (Nancy); his grandchildren, Tamera Adkins (Rich), Jonathan Drew (Nichole Comba), Kelsey Gipe, Eric Gipe, Jacqueline Smith (Derek), James Spinar, Katherine Spinar, David Spinar and Emily Spinar; and his great grandchildren, Noah Adkins, Emerson Drew, Ira Drew and Clara Adkins.
Memorials may be directed to the SDSU Foundation, Leo and Elaine Spinar Award for Teaching Excellence in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
