She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Gniffke and Clara Gniffke (Johnson); her husband Kenneth Mellendorf; and her siblings, Gayle Gniffke and Howard Gniffke.
She is survived by: her children, Leigh Mellendorf (Birdie) of Clear Lake, SD and Lana Motzer of Watertown, SD; her grandsons, Brady Mellendorf (Holly) and Dylan Motzer; her great grandchildren, Brock, Ben and Blake; her siblings, Cheryl Gerth, Joyce McClanahan, Leslie Gniffke and Tom Gniffke; and her friend Merilee Thiele. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
