He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Godwin and Merle Godwin (Heavner); and his wife Brenda. He is survived by: his daughter Jodie Godwin of Brandon, SD; his grandchildren, Lexie Godwin of Brandon, SD and Thomas Janssen; and his sister Diane Godwin Hill Catts of Dallas, NC. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
