It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Theresa Mertens of Brandon, South Dakota, born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away on April 22, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She is survived by: her children, Kim Mertens (Betsy) of Lennox, SD, Sharon Wirth (Matt) of Viborg, SD, Lisa Hjermstad (Joe) of Brandon, SD, Tammy Mertens-Jones (Sandy) of Sioux Falls, SD, Steven Mertens (Camille) of Springfield, SD, Emily Hanson of Sisseton, SD and Phillip Mertens of Veblen, SD; her brother William "Bill" Kunkel of Omaha, NE; and her friend Shirley Larrington of Rapid City, SD.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to Risen Savior Catholic Church in her honor.
