He was predeceased by: his spouse Mila Heggen; his parents, Joseph "Henry" Ode and Ida Ode; and his grandson Lewis Ode. He is survived by: his sister Dorothy Mayeske St (Roy); his children, David Ode Pierre (Jeanne), Mark Ode Brandon, Bruce Ode Brandon (Stephanie), JoAnn Presler Brandon (Kraig), Dianne Mork Brandon (Ken) and Jason Carpenter Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Peder, Dagne Ode, Kyle, Kelly (Matt Klingenberg), Kent Ode, Kasey (Tony Tripp), Adam, Sarah, Ryan Presler, Kaylee, Carson and Kaija Mork; and his great grandchildren, Mason and James Klingenberg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Brandon Lutheran Church.
