He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Merkel and Loretta Merkel. He is survived by: his sons, Phillip Nauman (Vicki) and Jeffrey Nauman (Kathy); and his siblings, Alice Helm (Jake), Lois Mumford (Jack) and Clyde Merkel. He is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
