He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Ustad and Mildred Ustad (Johnson); his daughter Leala Ustad; his sister Ida Mae Ustad; and his brother-in-law Don Patti.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Ustad of Beresford, SD; his daughters, Lynette Hofer of Tea, SD, Laura Ustad of Sioux Falls, SD, Leann Ustad of Harrisburg, SD and Kirsten Bickett (Jake) of Beresford, SD; his siblings, Melvin Ustad (Joanne) of Vermillion, SD, Agnes Patti of Takoma Park, MD, Naomi Peterson (Tom) of Emporia, KS and Ruby Plate (Bruce) of Vermillion, SD; and his brothers-in-law, Dale Grant (Kay) of Vale, SD and Mike Grant (Kristen) of Whitewood, SD. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
