He was predeceased by: his parents, John Berndt and Edith Berndt (Pritzkau); his siblings, Arnold and Mary Ann Kloucek; and his siblings-in-law, Lovern Berndt, Arnet Winter, Clement Kloucek, Richard Lind and Bernard Winckler.
He is survived by: his wife Verna Winter of Avon; his children, Gwenda Greenfield (James) of Dante, Jarold Berndt of Parkston, Roger Berndt (Carol) of Avon, Juliane Jensen of Tyndall and Aaron Berndt (Teresa) of Tripp; his sisters, Sophia Winckler of Tyndall and Thelma Lind of Vermillion; and his siblings-in-law, Donald Winter (Gloria) of Parkston and Eldora Winter of Parkston. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
