He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Kenneth Thompson and Agnes Jean Thompson (Jornlin); his grandparents, Einar and Selma Thompson; his sisters, Ranae and Susan; and his son Colin Francis Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Hazel Thompson (Fauth) of Lake Albert, SD; his son Ryan Thompson (Lisa); his grandchildren, Rylee, Beau and Eva Thompson; his brothers, Charles Thompson (Colleen) of Brookings, SD and Robert Thompson (Shirlene) of Brookings, SD; and his siblings-in-law, Suzette and Bob Hoevet of Onawa, IA. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews; along with many special and true friends.

Due to restrictions from the Covid-19 pandemic, memorial services are pending at this time.
