He was predeceased by: his parents, Soloman Chicken and Christine Prairie Chicken (Weston); his grandparents, Samuel and Martha Weston (Red Wing); his children, Blaine Chicken, Marty Prairie Chicken and Valerie Brewer; his stepson Randy Larrabee; and his grandson Stephen Blaine Prairie Chicken.

He is survived by: his son Kenneth Prairie Chicken of Rapid City; and his siblings, Larry Prairie Chicken of Rapid City, Lonnie Prairie Chicken of Rapid City, Darrell "Woody" Prairie of Rapid City and Elnita Stroxtile of Rapid City. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
