He was predeceased by: his parents, Merritt Sherard (Mac) and Mary Sherard (Wipf); his sister Hyla; and his wife Carol Veen. He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Frear of Renton, WA, Christie Bakker (Bryan) of Federal Way, WA and Chad Sherard (Stephanie) of Hartford, SD; and his grandsons, Dawson Bakker of Madison, SD and Cole Bakker.
