He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Oakes and Margaret Oakes (Saunders) of Exeter, RI.; his sons, Stephen Jr. and Robert Oakes (Bobby); his children-in-law, Joelene Oakes and Brian Weber; his siblings, William Oakes, Jr. and Margaret Thornley (Peg); and his siblings-in-law, Anna Kolasch, Catherine Kappenman and Leo Heier.
He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah and Bonita (Bonnie); his wife Lorenzia; his children, Richard Oakes (Linda) of Okeechobee, Deb Hansen of Aitken, MN and Bonnie Weber of Henderson, MN; his brother Willard Oakes (Judy) of Connecticut; and his siblings-in-law, Eugene Heier (Betty) of Aberdeen, Albert Heier (Kathryn) of Aberdeen, Larry Heier (Cora) of Oakes, ND and Regina Reis (Caroll) of Aberdeen. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
