He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rath and Martha Rath (Guthmiller); and his brother Jim. He is survived by: his wife Viva Rath of Sioux Falls, SD; his children, Laurel Grow (Dan) of Santa Rosa, CA, Steven Rath (Tam) of Eden Prairie, MN and Nancy Kuiken (Mike) of Savage, MN; and his grandchildren, John, Mark, David Rath and Lilly Kuiken.
