Michael Wood Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Wood of Aberdeen, South Dakota, who passed away on March 1, 2025 at the age of 68. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Wood and Beverly Wood (Mumma); and his parents-in-law, Harold and Thelma Decker. He is survived by: his wife Janelle Decker; his children, Andrea Nell, Nathan Wood (Naomi), Ryan Wood (Allie) and Emilee Woebke (Kevin); his grandchildren, Trinity Martin (Mathew), Faith Griffin (Samuel), Hannah Nell, Caeden Ryerse, Gage Wood, Maya Ann Wood, Sierra Wood, Evan Wood, Carolyn Wood, Annie Wood and Audrey Wood; and his siblings, Bernard Wood, Kathryn Russell, Douglas Wood, David Wood and Elaine Holty. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Aberdeen Alliance Church (1106 S Roosevelt St, Aberdeen, SD 57401). A prayer was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

“To Mike’s family, How I enjoyed working with Mike at Crown College. HIs service to the College, Alliance churches and to the Crown alumni were great. He always had a smile and a positive attitude. One of my favorite stories was when we were about to put on a big event Karen and I were trying to figure out how to decorate for it. We had spent too much time on it and Mike said I can go to Dubers and get everything we need and be back in an hour. He did and it was great. Wendy Edgar”
