With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ilene Elizabeth Schmidt of Aberdeen, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 18, 2025 at the age of 97. As we bid adieu to Ilene's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Ilene has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
She is survived by: her children, Jennifer Sheppard (Ron) of Kerrville, TX, Kathy Hook of Rapid City, SD, Patricia Hoffman (Ed) of Custer, SD, Franklin Schmidt (Amy) of Eagan, MN, Stanley Schmidt (Beth) of Putnam Valley, NY, Paul Schmidt (Shannon), Richard Schmidt (Victoria) of Burbank, CA and Peter Schmidt (Mary) of Warrenton, VA.; and her sister Teresa Schliesman of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
