He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Goetz and Katherine Goetz (Deis); his wife Jean Alwin; his brothers, Leonard Goetz and Elmer Goetz (Anna); and his sister-in-law Aileen.

He is survived by: his close friend Beth Fischer of Aberdeen; his daughters, Marie Goetz of Aberdeen, Sharon Rucker (Kevin) of Sioux Falls, Virginia LaQua (Darrin) of Matlacha and Michele Fonder (Terry) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Michael Rucker (Brenna), Rachel Rucker, Hunter LaQua, Houston LaQua, Samantha Fonder and Heath Fonder; his great grandchild Grayson Rucker; and his siblings, Joe Goetz of Aberdeen, Betty Ellwein (Don) of Tucson, Jerome Goetz (Linda) of Maple Grove and Jim Goetz (Angie) of Aberdeen. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
