He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe Lipp and Helen Lipp (Materi); his wife Dorothy Ann Fischer; and his children, Debbie, David Lipp (Lori), Dana, Bryan, Ashley, Dean Lipp (Carol), Meghen, Amanda, Scott, Bri, Don Lipp (Chiara), Dennis Lipp (Terry), Lindsay, Luke, Doreen Lipp, Robert III, Kate, Danielle, Ryan, Delores Yarbrough (Jeff), Deborah Kistler (Theodore), Matthew and Nick. He was also cherished by 6 siblings, 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, Dan started to use a couple phrases in his German tongue that translated to "stay healthy" and "stay kind".
