He was predeceased by: his father Marvin Gross; and his former wife Sunny. He is survived by: his friends, Terry Simon, Larry Spitzer, John Thelen and Jerome Martin; his mother Erna Gross (Stabler); his wife Kristin of Aberdeen; his children, Robert Gross (Josie) of Glendale, AZ, Christopher (Tanya) of Summerset, SD, Lisa Haar of Arlington, SD and Michael Gross (Jessica) of Brandon, SD; his stepchildren, Jennifer Gray (Eric) and Aaron Bigelow (Elizabeth); and his sister Paulette Fettig (Joe) of Aberdeen. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
