He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry L. Smith and Jimmie Reid Smith; and his brother William Smith. He is survived by: his girlfriend Mary Wanger of York, SC; his children, Robin D. Bummer of Gastonia, NC, Cindy L. Campbell of York, SC, Michael Paul Smith of Winston Salem, NC and James M. Johnson of Dixie, GA; and his brothers, Sherman Smith of Winston Salem, NC, Perry Smith of Winston Salem, NC and Jack Smith of Winston Salem, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
