Lizzie Thompson Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lizzie Thompson (York, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 16, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Parks and Aggie Parks; her former husbands, Marion Otis Latta and James Thompson; her sons, Charles Otis Latta Sr. and Eddie Marion Latta; her grandson Johnny "Aaron" Barnette Jr.; and her great grandchild Lauryn Elyse Rainey.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Latta (Betty Ann) of Charlotte, NC, Melvin Latta of Charlotte, NC, Lucinda Latta of York, SC, Catherine Latta of York, SC and Angela Latta of Charlotte, NC; her brother Willie Parks of McConnells, SC; and her daughter-in-law Chenna Latta. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Mt Do-Well Baptist Church (4717 Chester Hwy, McConnells, SC 29726). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Dowell Baptist Church (4717 Chester Hwy, McConnells, SC 29726).
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep desire to make a meaningful difference, she founded Helping Hands, a home healthcare service that provided essential support to seniors, especially those living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
