He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carnes and Effie Jacqueline Funderburk Carnes; his son Reggie Carnes; his brother Jimmy Carnes; and his grandchildren, Jamie Chuck Hall, Corey Bowers, Angel Rosas and Timmy Joel Underwood (TJ).
He is survived by: his daughters, Priscilla Underwood and Sarah Rosas; his sisters, Linda Case, Joann Paris and Vickie Ghent; his grandsons, Robert Wayne Underwood Jr., Billy Tolson Threatt and Ivan J. Rosas; and his great grandchildren, James Gregory Ross-Underwood and Michael Jamie Underwood (MJ).
