She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Bratton Lowry and Doris Mae Young; and her brother Bill Lowry. She is survived by: her husband Steven O'Brien Abernethy; her sister Lucie Hewitt; her daughters, Beth Montgomery (Michael) and Laura Mayben (Billy); her grandchildren, Jill Dover (Mark), Richard Lockridge (Amber), Turner Mayben (Hannah) and J. C. Ramsey; her stepgrandchildren, Ashley Kennedy (Chris) and Madison Montgomery; her great grandchildren, Eli Dover, Hannah Grace Dover, Arthur Lockridge, Olivia Mayben and Ezra Lockridge; and her sister-in-law Biddie Lowry of Haystack, VA..
