He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Nilsen and Anne Hansen Nilsen. He is survived by: his wife Ann Margaret Lindstrom Nilsen; his daughter Rebecca Ann Nilsen of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Alana Dixon and Nathaniel Carter.
