He is survived by: his wife Betty Powers Murphy; his daughters, Kelly Criminger (Jeffrey) of Lancaster and Brandy Murphy (Dustin Deese) of Lancaster; his grandchildren, Zack Murphy (Alyssa Moree), Murphy Roach, Luke Roach and Zane Catoe; his siblings, Jimmy Murphy (Barbara) of Lancaster, Harold Murphy (Brenda) of Rock Hill and Rhoda Byrd of Lancaster; and his sisters-in-law, Sarah Murphy of Florence, SC and Celeste Murphy of Camden, SC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
