He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Henry Smith; his aunt Bee Smith; his wife Maudestine Smith; his children, Susan Smith, Gaylon Cherry (Ernest), Billy Smith (Lucille), Timothy Smith and Darby McDowell; his stepson Gary Tidwell; his nieces, Yvonne Steele, Beverly Curry, Arnishia "Nisa" Franklin, Bessie Lee Smith, Shirley Thacker and Lisa Jones; and his sisters-in-law, Hattie Mills, Yvonne Curry, Doretha Littlejohn and Patricia Curry. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, clients and friends.
