He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Jackson Lida, Sr. and Wanda Mounce Lida; his son Tommy Coln; and his siblings, Richard Lida and Carolyn Watson.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Shipman Lida; his daughters, Pamela Doss of Laurens, Regina Gaines of Lanford, SC and Sandra Watson of Lanford, SC; his brothers, David Lida of Oklahoma and Danny Lida of Florida; and his close friend Cortney Fleming of Lanford, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
