He was predeceased by: his father John Russell Gaston, Sr.; and his brother Alexander Gaston. He is survived by: his wife Jannita Creswell Gaston; his children, Javon Gaston and Sojourner Jennings (Alvin); and his brother Alvin Gaston. He is also survived by family members, friends.
