He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin R., Sr. and Tessa Mae Johnson Tice; and his sisters, Glenda Dossey, Tina Mims and Sonya "Dee Dee" Williams.

He is survived by: his wife Sharron Rogers Tice; his grandchildren, Micheal Tice, Jolene Tice, Synthia Jaggers, Bentley Howard and Miller Brooks; his children, Jason, April Tice, Alyse, David Utz, Sydney and Kyle Brooks; his sister Deborah Rhoden; and his father-in-law Charles Scalf.
