He is survived by: his spouse Betty Bivens; his sons, Edward Franklin "Eddie" Chavis (Beca) of Williston and Jody Chavis of Williston; his friend Betty Bivens; his siblings, Patricia Hair, Jeannette Driggers, Shelby Williams (Eric), Barbara Carter (Tony), Cathy Davis, Cecil Chavis (Lora), O'Neal Chavis (Janet) and Earl Chavis; his grandchildren, Allen, Chance and Justin Chavis (Ashley); and his great grandchildren, Amie, Savannah and Justin Allen Chavis, Jr.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
