He was predeceased by: his wife Sharon L. Rowbotham; his grandson Cameron Sommers; and his brother Richard Sommers. He is survived by: his children, Charles, Kelly Sommers, Laura Williams and Chad Sommers; and his brother James Sommers. He is also survived by six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
