He was predeceased by : his parents, Sam Sanders and Azalee Crawford Sanders; his wife Helen Randolph Sanders; his grandparents, Pinckney Sanders, Mary Madalene Sanders, Henry Crawford and Annie Clary Crawford; and his aunts and uncles, Henrietta Byrd, Alberta Turner Pitts, Eliza Sanders, Etta Shell, Alex Sanders, Butler Sanders, Hugh Sanders, Johnny Sanders, Judson Sanders and Pinckney Sanders.

He is survived by : his daughter Xylina Sanders; his sister Shirley Sanders Maurice; his niece Shantale Maurice; and also Hugh. He is also survived by cousins and friends.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, June 22nd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Flint Hill Baptist Church.
