He was predeceased by: his parents, Ryan Poag and Nellie Grace Bostic Poag; and his children, Veronica "Ronnie" Butler and Michael Hurston Poag. He is survived by: his wife Patty Earle Poag; his children, Kevin Emory (Larissa) and Melissa Smythe (Tom); his sister Shelia Miller (Bob); his niece Dawn Waymire; his close friends, Brandon and Omar; and his pets, Gracie and Rocky. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous cousins.
