He was predeceased by: his father Isidro Hernandez; and his grandson Isidro Hernandez. He is survived by: his wife Rosa Martha Tapia-Hernandez; his mother Amparo Acosta Gomez; his children, Samuel Armando Hernandez (Maritza) of Seneca and Angelica Hospelhorn (Michael) of Fairplay; his siblings, Ruben Hernandez, Magarito Hernandez, Elvia Baca and Martha Cardenas; and his grandchild Asher Hospelhorn. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
