He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Cox Mathis; his children, Richard McKinley Mathis (Ashley), James Alan Mathis (McKayla) and Hannah Arrington (Jon); his brothers, Daniel Mathis and Brian Mathis; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Addison, Jasmine, Jacob and Jack.
