He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Gibson and Gussie Harden Gibson; his former wife Marie Sikes Gibson; and his siblings, Jack Gibson, Virginia Harmon, Wilma Jones and Magalene Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Gibson of Westminster; his children, Donna Marcengill (Scott) of Westminster, Cindy Frick (Charles) of Salem, Phil Sanders (April) of Walhalla and Greta Freeman (Sam) of Central; his grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron Marcengill, Emmie Hafner (Garrett), Annie Alexander (Russell), Daniel Frick, Cody Sanders (Anna), Josie McCoy (Aaron), Paul, Kate Wilson and Kam Freeman; his great grandchildren, Ridge Mac Sanders and Tindsley Hafner; and his sister Lorene Gibson of Jacksonville, FL..
