He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Franklin Smith and Icie Shedd Smith; and his brothers, J. B. Smith and Fred Smith. He is survived by: his wife Martha Faye Blackwell; his daughter Kaye S. Matheson (Rickie); his sisters, Louise Holcombe and Betty Suttles; his grandchildren, Stanley Matheson (Amanda) and Stephanie Merck (Jeremy); and his great grandchildren, Kinsey Merck, Tanner Levi Merck, Kayedin Merck and Carter Matheson.
