He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Smith and Helen Wood Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kay Lorraine Fendley Smith; his children, Chad Smith (Devon) of Seneca and Ginger Stevenson (Andy) of Anderson; his brother Jimmy Smith; and his niece Stacy Smith.
