With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Arvel Pettit of West Union, South Carolina, born in Anderson, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 6, 2024 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvel Buren and Mabelle Crocker Pettit; and his siblings, Leland Pettit, Mary Braddock, Frances Quarles, Betty Jo Moore, Rilla Stancil and Remel Oliver.
He is survived by: his spouse Jerlyne Long Pettit of West Union; his sons, James Pettit (Maxine) of West Union and John Pettit of West Union; his grandchildren, Brooke Patterson (Matt), Jena Kerr (Jeremy), Kayla Saski (Matt), Nicholas Pettit, Emily Pettit, Jarrod Pettit and Tara Childs; and his great grandchildren, Claire Patterson, Alayna Saski, Chase Saski and Ana Young.
