He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Robert and Afia Belle Smith McAlister; his wife Barbara Sue Ridley McAlister; his son Christopher Lane McAlister; and his siblings, Tommy Vestor McAlister, Donald Charles McAlister, James Robert McAlister and Mildred Lola McAlister.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy McAlister (Tommy L.) of West Union, SC; his siblings, John William McAlister (Emma), Frank Edward McAlister (Nona), Herbert Rudolph McAlister, Betty Ruth Walker, Afia Carolyn Neal and Margie Lucille Burrell; and his grandsons, Brandon Whitfield (Lindsay) and John A. Hamby (Jeanne). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
