He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Wilbur and Dora Sue Porth Spires; and his sister Gloria Cook. He is survived by: his siblings, Betty McWhorter, Patsy Amick, Nell McCarty and Jerome Spires; his wife Kitty; his family, Christy (Rusty Todd) and Brook Spires; and his grandchildren, Maggie, Banks and Molly Todd.
Covid and cancer limited his visits in the past few years, but it never took away his passion for "going to jail.".
