It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Lawson Smith of West Columbia, South Carolina, born in Knoxville, Tennessee, who passed away on November 21, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Corenna Parrott and Arthur N. Lawson; her husband John V. Smith, Jr.; her son George Arthur Smith; her great grandchild Rachel Lynn Smith; and her siblings, David A. Lawson and Anna Heiser.

She is survived by: her children, John V. Smith, III (Martha) of Kissimmee Florida and Kathleen Smith Moss (Carroll) of West Columbia; and her grandchildren, John (Jessica), Dean (Shannon), Stephanie Amaker (Ron), Jessica Jamison (Eric) and Jennifer Gostischa (Mike). She is also survived by nine great grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
